Luminaea is a 320-unit hex territory on Mina Protocol — the world's lightest blockchain. Players buy, develop and trade land units using $ARKIS, an in-game token built on Mina's custom token standard. Each territory is governed by a Minalien NFT minister with unique traits that affect the land. Tune your units weekly, build developments, win auctions, and rise to dominance across 20 districts — all verifiable on-chain with zero-knowledge proofs that protect player privacy.

MINALIA currently uses Supabase (PostgreSQL) as its backend — a pragmatic choice for rapid development. The long-term roadmap investigates migrating to a decentralised database layer, eliminating any single point of control over game data.

Uses ZK-rollup proofs to enforce data rules — aligns directly with MINALIA's ZK-first philosophy. Data writes are governed by Polylang functions, not a central authority.

Alongside decentralised DB, game assets — NFT metadata, artwork, territory records — will be stored on IPFS (InterPlanetary File System), ensuring no single server controls access to player-owned content. Files stored on IPFS are content-addressed — meaning the data can never be silently altered or deleted, giving players genuine ownership of their assets in perpetuity.

The current game is a foundation. Luminaea is the first of 5 planned territories that launch sequentially — each new territory expanding the player base, unlocking new mechanics and deepening the economy. As territories open, so does the scope: alliances, cross-territory diplomacy, resource trading markets, minister elections, AI-driven world events, and player-governed treasuries. The full game is designed for several thousand players across all territories, with each layer of complexity unlocking only once the community has grown into it. Every decision matters not just for your own land, but for the living world around it.

Why it matters for Mina: Every engaged player is a long-term holder of Mina, an Auro wallet user, and a potential advocate for the protocol — turning game growth directly into ecosystem growth. 5 territories means 5 sequential on-chain launches, each one a new event for the Mina community. MINALIA also serves as a visible, positive showcase for o1 Labs and the wider Mina ecosystem — demonstrating that real, engaging products can be built on zero-knowledge infrastructure. Players who opt in would run a lightweight Mina node inside their browser while they play — contributing to network security and decentralisation without any additional setup. The game becomes not just a use case for Mina, but an active participant in keeping the network healthy. Playing Luminaea would mean helping secure the world's lightest blockchain at the same time.

Why it matters: Distributing node participation across thousands of engaged game players dramatically strengthens Mina's decentralisation — and gives players a tangible sense that their presence in the game has real-world impact beyond the screen.
Privacy Controls

Every ZK proof above has a corresponding player-controlled toggle. A dedicated settings page lets players choose exactly what to reveal — balance visibility, ownership disclosure, score transparency — giving full sovereignty over their on-chain footprint. Privacy is opt-in, not opt-out.
